You only need a doctor’s sick certificate if you are unable to work and are ill for longer than seven calendar days. Your employer will provide you with an SC2 self-certificate form for shorter periods of illness.
It is very unlikely that your GP will issue a sick certificate without seeing you first.
If you require a follow-on sick certificate for a continuation of a period of sickness that has already been assessed by your GP, please allow 2 working days for issuance.
You can order follow-on sick notes via the eConsultation link on the home page.
